LinkedIn Message Thread Scraper

    Tutorial

    Overview

The LinkedIn Message Thread Scraper automation allows you to extract entire message threads from LinkedIn, capturing valuable details such as message content, timestamps, and sender information. This tool is ideal for sales teams, recruiters, and networkers who want to analyze conversation history, track communication, or gather insights from LinkedIn interactions. Follow this guide to configure the automation, with options to export data to Google Sheets or CSV for easy review and organization.

Step 1: Log in to the TexAu App and Locate the Automation

Log in to your TexAu account at v2-prod.texau.com. In the Automation Store, search for LinkedIn Message Thread Scraper to quickly locate the tool.

Screenshot Suggestion: Show the Automation Store screen with "LinkedIn Message Thread Scraper" entered in the search bar.

Step 2: Connect to LinkedIn with TexAu

To allow TexAu to access LinkedIn message threads on your behalf, connect your LinkedIn account. Click Add Account and select LinkedIn. TexAu provides two secure connection options:

    • Magic Link: Sends a secure link to your email for login without needing to handle cookies.
    • Add Account: Connects directly through TexAu’s built-in browser extension, streamlining setup.

Tip: Magic Link is a quick, secure option for connecting without manual cookie management.

    Step2

Step 3: Select Your Input Source

Once LinkedIn is connected, define the input source to specify which message threads you want to scrape. You can select a single conversation or upload a list of conversation IDs using Google Sheets or CSV.

    1. Single Conversation ID: For a one-time extraction, enter the LinkedIn Conversation ID of the specific thread. This is useful if you are focusing on a particular conversation for analysis.
    2. Google Sheet or CSV for Multiple Threads: For extracting data from multiple threads, use a Google Sheet or CSV file. List each conversation ID in a separate row, then paste the Google Sheet URL or upload the CSV file in TexAu. This setup is ideal for gathering data from numerous threads in one run, saving time.

    step3

Step 4: Schedule the Automation (Optional)

If you want to run the automation at specific times, use the scheduling feature. Click Schedule to set the start date and time, or configure a Recurrence Frequency for ongoing extraction:

    • At Regular Intervals (e.g., every day or every week)
    • Once
    • Every Day
    • On Specific Days of the Week (e.g., every Monday and Thursday)
    • On Specific Days of the Month (e.g., the 5th and 20th)
    • On Specific Dates (e.g., March 1)

Scheduling is useful if you want to monitor ongoing conversations, keeping your data up to date.

    step4

Step 5: Set an Iteration Delay (Optional)

To prevent LinkedIn’s rate limits from being triggered, set an Iteration Delay to control the interval between each message thread extraction. Configure Minimum Delay and Maximum Delay values to add variability, simulating natural usage. Adjust the delay in seconds, minutes, or hours as needed.

    step5

Step 6: Choose Your Output Mode (Optional)

In Output Mode, select how you want to save and manage the message thread data. Exporting data to Google Sheets or CSV file makes it easy to review, share, and organize conversations.

    1. Export Options: Choose Google Sheets or CSV file as your output format. Link your Google account if you select Google Sheets, allowing direct export to Google Drive.
    2. Output Management:
      • Append (Default): Adds each extracted message thread to the end of the existing file, creating a cumulative log of conversations.
      • Split: Each run generates a new file, ideal for organizing data by session.
      • Overwrite: Replaces previous data with the latest extraction, useful if you only need recent conversations.
    3. Duplicate Management: Enable Deduplicate to automatically remove duplicate entries, ensuring clean and organized data.

Tip: Google Sheets export is ideal for team collaboration, allowing real-time updates and shared access to conversation history.

    step6

Step 7: Run the Automation on Cloud or Desktop

Once configurations are set, click Run to start the automation. Choose to run on Cloud or Desktop mode:

    • Cloud: Runs the automation on TexAu’s servers, perfect for hands-free operation.
    • Desktop: Run locally on your device if you prefer using your own IP address, which may simulate manual usage.

Tip: Running automations on Desktop mode saves cloud runtime costs and provides greater control over task execution.

    step7

Step 8: Access the Data from the Data Store

After the automation completes, go to the Data Store section in TexAu to access the extracted message thread data. Locate the LinkedIn Message Thread Scraper automation and click See Data to view or download the results.

    step8

The LinkedIn Message Thread Scraper automation simplifies the process of capturing and analyzing LinkedIn conversations, allowing sales, recruitment, and networking professionals to keep track of communication. With scheduling, bulk input options, and export to Google Sheets or CSV, this tool provides organized, accessible conversation data for tracking engagement and optimizing outreach.
