LM Arena (formerly Chatbot Arena and LMSYS) operates the most cited public benchmark for large language models — a crowdsourced head-to-head evaluation platform that has scored Claude, GPT, Gemini and Llama side-by-side. Spun out of UC Berkeley in 2024 and based in the Bay Area, LM Arena raised a $100M seed round led by Andreessen Horowitz and UC Investments in May 2025 at a $600M valuation.
