Data Append
Data append adds missing fields to an existing record by matching against an external dataset — filling in phone numbers, titles, or firmographics that your record didn't have.
What is data append?
Data append is the operation of taking a record that's missing fields, finding a match in an external dataset, and copying over the missing values. The classic example: a CRM lead with name + email but no phone, title, or company size — append fills those gaps from an enrichment provider.
Why it matters
- Lead forms collect the minimum to maximize conversion; append fills in everything else
- Old CRM records often have gaps that block segmentation and routing — append closes them
- Cleaner records = better scoring, better routing, better outreach
Append vs. enrichment vs. waterfall
- Append: add a specific missing field from one source
- Enrichment: broader operation that may also normalize, validate, and overwrite
- Waterfall: check multiple providers in priority order; first successful match wins (highest match rate)
How TexAu helps
Run waterfall append against any source (LinkedIn, Apollo, Clearbit, ZoomInfo, custom APIs) and pick the most current, highest-confidence value per field.
